Monsanto Toronto Protest May 25 featuring youth activist Rachel Parent. Rachel is a grade 8 student, journalist and speaker, Healthy Planet Watchdog and named an “Environmental Hero” by NOW Magazine.
You are after my heart Rachel! Notre Dame Catholic School in Burlignton have a Planting Day Tuesday, June 11, 0830-1130. We have been teaching elementary students and secondary students how to grow their own vegetables. “Roots to Shoots”. At this school there is also and organic greenhouse with aquaponics ( a symbiotic eco system where vegetable and fish grow and nurture one another. Your message is very inspiring, I would like to invite you to “Planting Day” Al Nason, Green Industry Teacher at Notre Dame Catholic School, Halton Food for Thougt, and our special guest speaker is Ken Beattie with the Canadian Wild Life Federation please join us on this day. There are enormous needs in Ontario’s Food and Agriculture Sector in relation to diploma, undergrad and post-grad programs. Raising awareness towards organic and environmentally sustainable food production is what we as leaders in education regarding global awareness need to share and teach our youth to enhance loving the earth and to protect our beautiful planet. All communities thrive for their schools to be the hubs where people can volunteer, stay active, gather to learn and participate in the activities of community based organizations and to fuel the minds, spirit and hearts of young souls. You are a great leader and we need more young inspiring activist like you to come together. THe address for our event is 2333 Headon FOrest Drive Burlington Ontario. I have a pdf invitation if you would like. You may also contact myself at 289-696-531 or Al Nason at 905-818-6550. The will to continue the demise of GMOs full circle will happen with many young voices.
hi rob here from Ireland here .i get so upset with what monsanto is doing my blood boils ! such a joy to see the young standing up against such giants.well done you Rachel ,keep up the execellent work we need people like you to inspire others.
Great Job Rachel!! keep up the great awareness and work!! Lets get the labels out there and even better, have zero GMO on our shelves because labeling still enables Monsanto and others to promote and farm these experimental crops.
Best of Luck and keep going!
Alex – Toronto
I watched the video of your interview with those two adult TV hosts, and I was deeply impressed with how you stayed on point and defended your position. You were polite and despite the suggestions from the one host that you would change your mind as you got older, you answered respectfully. I have signed petitions here in Washington State calling for the labelling of GMO’s, but I admire your courage!
